Fireworks can cause a lot of damage to your home if you are not careful. A firework could burn down your home or simply cause you to remodel.

Remodeling is a huge task that you do not want to be faced with unnecessarily. Not only does remodeling take time and skills, it takes a lot of money most of the time.

One of the many dangers to your home that may end in the need for a remodel is fireworks. Fireworks used inappropriately on the fourth of July or on New Years Eve can cause a lot of damage.

If one accidentally strikes your home, you may need a new home at worst. At best, you will need to remodel.

For some people this may be exactly the excuse they needed to change the colors in the upstairs bathroom or to replace the horrid fireplace in the middle of the living room. Whatever the case, it is better to simply remodel when you want to and can afford it and to be safe with your fireworks.

Fireworks are particularly dangerous to use during the summer time. During this time of year, everything is dry and can easily catch on fire. It is critical that you light fireworks on a flat surface where nothing that can catch on fire is close by.

Even a simple grass fire could cause damage to your home. The first step to being safe with fireworks however is carefully choosing the fireworks that you plan to use.

There are different levels of consumer fireworks and some of them are much more dangerous than others. M-80s, M-100s, blockbusters and quarter pounders are not legal fireworks. They are labeled explosives, not fireworks.

If you should happen to be in Mexico and you see a discount fireworks stand, you should keep this in mind. While these fireworks are not sold in the United States, you can get them elsewhere.

However, even if you buy them somewhere else, they are still illegal to light in the United States unless you have a special permit for a large event. This is because these explosives tend to cause damage to property.

Even some shady dealers in the United States may sell these illegal fireworks. However, it is a law that all fireworks must be labeled with the manufacturer’s name and address along with the name of the firework.

Unlabeled fireworks should definitely be avoided as you do not know whether they will give off pretty colors and noises or whether they are a bomb. If a stand has unlabeled fireworks be sure to go somewhere else and find a more reputable dealer.

There are many things you should keep in mind as well when it comes to setting off fireworks. The first rule of fireworks is that a responsible adult should always be in charge of setting off fireworks.

Children often do not know how dangerous fireworks can be and should not left alone with them lest they may seriously injure themselves. Adults should never give fireworks to small children or allow them to light the fireworks as well.

Children that are too small may not be mentally mature enough to handle even a sparkler. As a result, if they are given one he or she may burn others, themselves, or damage other things.

Make sure a child is old and mature enough to use a sparkler before you give him or her one. As with many holidays, most of the adults will probably drink some throughout the night.

However, the person in charge of lighting the fireworks should definitely not be drunk and should not have drunk even a little alcohol. It is also advisable to wear glasses or safety goggles in the event of flying, fiery debris.

This person should also be able to read the directions on the firework and follow the safety guidelines provided. Other fireworks should be nowhere near the one you are setting off, or they could get lit early as well, which could cause serious problems.

The person in charge of lighting the fireworks should also make sure that all spectators stay at least 20 feet away from a fountain display and 40 feet away from an aerial firework launch. This includes dogs, cats, and other animals as they may be curious about what is going on.

It is also important to be prepared in case something does catch on fire with a bucket of water and garden hose. You may want to soak the lawn and nearby plants with water before you begin your fireworks display to help prevent any rogue fires that may start due to the dry summer plants.
